The door contact sensor lets the smart alarm system know whether the door is opened or closed.
When the door with the door contact is opened the magnet loses contact with the sensor and a reed switch is activated. When the reed switch is activated, the sensor sends an alert to the smart alarm systems control panel to let it know that the door has been opened.
Dependant on whether the smart alarm system is set or inactive, the alert will be logged and ignored or it will trigger the alarm to sound.
